Louis De Jaeger New Vice-President of Chilliwack Metis Association.

Chilliwack, BC – Local entrepreneur, community leader, social activist and politician Louis De Jaeger has been appointed Vice-President of the Chilliwack Metis Association.  In a humble statement on his social media links Louis simple states “Proud to be appointed to Vice-President of the Chilliwack Metis Association.”

Louis has served as Director of Community Relations for the past 2 years and will continue in that portfolio.  His appointment to Vice-Presidents follows a vacancy left after the transfer of the current President Paul Gauthier to Nunavut.  Past-president/vice-president Ed Dandenault will assume the position of President until an AGM is held October 19, 2019.

The Chilliwack Metis Association is one of 38 Chartered Communities administered by the Metis Nation of British Columbia. (BC population 89,400 stats. Canada) whose Mission Statement is: “Our commitment is to organize; to define and implement an engagement process; to teach and teach and learn our culture; to foster better relationships in our community; and to inspire and mentor the next generation of leaders.”

Louis De Jaeger MBA is co-founder/past-president of the Stó:lō Business Association.  He is a graduate of Simon Fraser University’s EMBA program in business and Aboriginal Leadership.  He holds certification in Indigenous Governance from the University of Arizona’s Native Nation’s Institute, Expanding Skills in Economic Development (BCEDA), Historical Impact (Stó:lō Service Agency).  Accolades include: 2016 BC Business Volunteer of the Year (Community Futures), 2015 Aboriginal Business of the Year (Chilliwack Chamber), 2012 Outstanding BC Aboriginal Business (BC Achievement Foundation.  He is a board member of Stó:lō Community Futures, sits on the University of the Fraser Valley Senate Committee on Indigenization and Chilliwack Healthier Community.  He was the 2015 Federal Liberal Candidate for Chilliwack-Hope and ran in the 2018 Municipal Election for City Councilor.
