Chilliwack, BC – The City of Chilliwack and the Chilliwack Economic Partners Corporation (CEPCO) are pleased to welcome AdvanTec Global Innovations to Chilliwack.  They are relocating their marine Canadian manufacturing facilities from the Township of Langley into an 80,000 square foot facility at 43676 Progress Way.  The move is already underway and will continue until the end of November.

AdvanTec Global Innovations is an internationally recognized industrial and marine manufacturer with several locations in the United States and Canada.  Exporting to over 50 countries worldwide, the marine division of AdvanTec specializes in the design, engineering and manufacturing of specialty closures. Their customer base includes North American and International Navies, Governments, Militaries, Commercial Vessel and Yacht Builders.  The industrial division of AdvanTec provides turn-key contract manufacturing, designs and manufactures custom enclosures and fabricates pressure vessels and piping.

Company owner, Brad Miller is a consummate entrepreneur that has specialized in innovative manufacturing businesses for more than 30 years.  His connection to Chilliwack is strong as the former owner of IMW Industries, a company he helped build into a global supplier of compressed natural gas fueling systems.  After selling IMW in 2009, Brad continued to invest in the manufacturing space in Canada and the US and currently owns seven companies specialized in marine and industrial manufacturing with a focus on clean tech manufacturing.

“We are excited to be part of the business community in Chilliwack once again, and we look forward to growing our business there,” said Brad Miller.

The Manufacturing sector is a major part of the British Columbia economy.  It accounts for close to 180,000 direct jobs and supports hundreds of thousands of indirect jobs. For every $1.00 dollar generated by a manufacturer another $3.50 in economic activity results in local British Columbia communities.

“We are committed to creating a business friendly environment in Chilliwack that attracts economic growth and investment,” said Mayor Elect Ken Popove.  “We are happy to welcome AdvanTec Global Innovations to Chilliwack.”

AdvanTec Manufacturing will relocate 130 current jobs to Chilliwack, with another 25 open positions that need to be filled.  The positions are diverse and create exciting new employment opportunities for Chilliwack.  More information can be found at www.advantecglobal.com/careers/.

“The manufacturing sector in Chilliwack is a major contributor to our local economy,” said Brian Coombes, CEPCO President.  “The addition of a global company such as AdvanTec Global Innovations to our community will strengthen this important sector and bring additional job opportunities for Chilliwack residents,” added Coombes.
