2 Fires Kept Crews Busy

Barn Fire
On September 26, 2018 at approximately 1645pm the Chilliwack Fire Department was dispatched to a reported barn fire located in the 51000 block of Willbourn Rd.


Firefighters responded from Halls 1, 2, 4, and 6, and on arrival, reported seeing heavy smoke and flames venting from a silage barn. The owner and workers were onsite at the time of the fire and had initiated fire control methods. Firefighters set up an offensive fire attack, and were able to stop the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings.

There were no civilian, firefighter, or animal injuries.

This fire appears to be accidental.

Vacant House Fire

On September 27, 2018 at approximately 0330am the Chilliwack Fire Department was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire located in the 46000 block of Brooks Ave.

Firefighters responded from Halls 1, 4, and 6, and on arrival, reported seeing heavy smoke and flames venting from the structure. The structure was vacant and under demolition at the time of the fire. Due to the intense fire and structural damage firefighters set up a defensive fire attack. The remainder of the structure was destroyed by the fire

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

This fire is considered suspicious at this time, and is under investigation by the Chilliwack Fire
Department and RCMP.
