The Chilliwack Animal Safe Haven is pleased to announce that a Fall 2018 election will take place amongst its feline inhabitants.

Campaign and Advance Polling Dates: September 29, 2018 to October 19, 2018.

General Election Day: October 20, 2018

The writ was dropped (and is now being batted around the floor) and a slate of 4 “Meowyoral” candidates and 6 “Pouncillor” candidates has been tabled. (along with numerous bowls of cat crunchies.)

One (1) “Meowyor” and Four (4) “Pouncillors” are to be elected.

All Candidates Meetings will occur daily at the Chilliwack Animal Safe Haven from September 29, 2018 to October 20, 2018.

(Please note:  the Haven cannot guarantee that all candidates will be awake when you visit.)

Please drop by the Haven during open hours (see below) and visit with the candidates and hear what they have to say about the key issues they think cats in Chilliwack are facing in the 21st Century. You can also voice your concerns to the candidates. (If they don’t have anything better to do, they might listen to you…for a minute or two.) You will likely be able to prolong your meeting with a candidate if you offer some ear or chin scratches or, for the ultimate meeting, a good brushing.)

Please note that the bribing of candidates with Temptations® or other types of cat treats is strictly prohibited under the Provincial Feline Elections Act, R.S.B.C. 2003. (Don’t let the candidates tell you otherwise.)

After meeting with all the candidates and evaluating their platforms (political platforms – not the carpeted things the candidates sit and sleep on), you may cast a ballot for the candidates of your choice. The ballot box is a converted cat litter tray located in the Haven’s office. (Don’t worry; it’s been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.)

Elections results will be released by the Chief RePurrning Officer on October 21, 2018.

If you would like to make a cash donation to the campaign fund of your chosen candidate(s) while you are at the Haven – to assist in defraying the cost of accommodation and food (fortunately, travel and entertainment costs are minimal) – that would be greatly appreciated and will be rewarded with head butts and warm purrs.

The Chilliwack Animal Safe Haven is located at: 49843 Chilliwack Central Road

Open hours are:          Monday – Friday and Sunday: 9 a.m. to 12 Noon.

Saturday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
