At 4:30am on July 30, 2018, firefighters from Chilliwack fire halls 1, 4 & 6 responded to a structure fire in the 46000 block of Princess Avenue. When firefighters arrived they found a vacant, two storey family residential home with flame and smoke showing from the second floor and attic space. Firefighters confined and quickly extinguished the fire to the second floor area and attic space of the house.

Fire damage was contained to the central area of the second floor, attic and roof structure.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

The fire is still under investigation by the Chilliwack Fire Department.

Chilliwack Fire Department would like to remind owners of vacant homes that they face an increase risk when it comes to property damage which includes vandalism, theft and or fire damage.  A fire within a vacant home also increases the risk to fire fighter safety.
