Chilliwack: One person was arrested and CDSA search warrants executed by the RCMP during a police investigation of drug trafficking in the region.
Evidence gathered by the Chilliwack Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) led to the arrest of a woman on May 24, 2018.
Approximately 96 grams of drugs believed to be cocaine, cash, cell phones, and a car were seized by police during the arrest.
On May 25, 2018 CRU investigators supported by the Chilliwack Quick Response Team (QRT) and General Duty (GD) officers executed CDSA search warrants at addresses in the 45000-block of Storey Avenue and the 7200-block of Chilliwack River Road.
Officers seized what is believed to be approximately 533 grams of cocaine, a pressing device, an estimated $10,000 Canadian and $2,500 US currency, articles associated with drug trafficking, a rifle, brass knuckles, and a baton during the searches.
RCMP are submitting all circumstances of the investigation in a report to the BC Prosecution Service for their assessment of CDSA and Criminal Code charges.
“The RCMP investigation and subsequent seizures have prevented a significant quantity of drugs from reaching the streets of our community,” says Corporal Mike Rail spokesperson for the UFVRD.
