Chilliwack: On May 8, 2018 around 9 p.m. RCMP responded to a report of a collision between two pedestrians and a train in the 51000-block of Yale Road.

Chilliwack General Duty (GD) and General Investigation Support Team (GIST) officers on the scene quickly located two local women suffering non-life threatening injuries.  The women were transported to hospital by BC Ambulance.

Officers determined the pair were walking their dog when the pet ran onto the rail track in front of a westbound Canadian Pacific train. Unfortunately the pet succumbed to injuries.

RCMP GIST investigators supported by CN and CP Police continue to pursue their investigation into the collision.

“Railway lines are on private property.  RCMP remind pedestrians it is dangerous to walk on or near tracks,” says Corporal Mike Rail spokesperson for the UFVRD.

RCMP are urging anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 or, should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
