Chilliwack Chiefs v. Trail Smoke Eaters
Prospera Centre – 7pm – 89.5 The Hawk
Season Series – The Chiefs have dominated the matchup, going 5-0 against the Smoke Eaters this season, including two wins in Chilliwack.
Last Meeting – The Chiefs got a terrific all-around performance, as plenty of secondary scoring led the way in a 5-2 victory over the Smokies in Trail on January 15th.
The Rundown – Chilliwack will try to put two straight wins together for the first time in the calendar year. They’re coming off an impressive win over Merritt on Friday night. Four different goal scorers gave Bryton Udy the run support he needed to make 42 saves, and take home first star honours. Chilliwack is also playing shorthanded, with Derek Huisman suspended for another game tonight. Trevor Hills will be back in the lineup after serving a one game suspension for a fight in Westside on Wednesday.
The Chiefs have called up forwards Mitch Skapski (96) and Matt Revel (96) and defenseman Austin Edwards from the Fraser Valley Bruins Major Midget team for tonight’s game. Those three handled themselves well in the game against Merritt on Friday.
As for the Smoke Eaters, they have won two straight games, both in overtime over Salmon Arm and Surrey. Wins have been tough to come by for Trail this year, but the team will be playing with a little confidence following those two victories. It’s important the Chiefs don’t fall asleep against a team they’ve beaten five times already this season.
