Chilliwack Chiefs v. Merritt Centennials

Prospera Centre – 7pm – 89.5 The Hawk/895thehawk.com

Season Series: Merritt has the upper hand thus far, as they are 3-1-0-1 against the Chiefs in four games this season.

Last Matchup: The Centennials scored three goals in the first eight minutes to put the Chiefs away 5-1 at the Nicola Valley Arena on January 14th. Mitch Gillam got the hook that night, and was replaced by Bryton Udy the rest of the way.

The Rundown: Chilliwack has yet to put together consecutive wins in the new calendar year. Friday night, they’ll be trying to bounce back from an ugly loss in West Kelowna on Wednesday night, where they allowed four second period goals. Chilliwack has won just three of their last ten games, but still hold on to the third playoff spot in the Interior conference. They are twelve points back of the Centennials in the standings, who currently occupy the second playoff birth.

Merritt has continued their strong play, but may be in a foul mood, as they are coming off their worst loss of the season, a 9-0 setback on home ice to the Penticton Vees on Wednesday night. Merritt boasts one of the best road records in the league, and has defeated the Chiefs at Prospera once before, a 1-0 game on December 30th.

Leading Scorer –

Chilliwack – Derek Huisman        22 G/25 A/ 47 P

Merritt – Reagan Soquila 13 G/ 43 A/ 56 P
