Soak in the sights, sounds, and sunshine of the Garrison Village Festival! This south-side favourite returns for its third year on the new day and time of Saturday, August 26 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., welcoming locals and visitors alike for a full day of free community-driven fun.
Presented in part by Diverse Properties, this block-party event features endless shopping opportunities from a selection of talented artisans and Village-based retailers, live entertainment, kids’ activities, face painting, bouncy castles, fun and games from local community groups, food trucks, prizes, and more, all in the heart of Garrison Village (corner of Vedder Rd. and Keith Wilson Rd.).
Embracing the spirit of shopping local, a selection of artisans will showcase their craft. Coordinated in part by the Chilliwack Community Arts Council, these talented creators will offer a full range of original artwork including unique adornments and décor for body and home, skin pampering delights, and taste-bud pleasing culinary creations.
Headlining the community stage entertainment from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Judy Tuesday will transport eventgoers back to the rockin’ 60s and 70s with their mix of upbeat hits. Featuring a quartet of the Chilliwack Player’s Guild’s finest: Stu Coleman on bass, Clint Hames on guitar, Judy Hill on keyboards, and Phil Mulholland on drums, this group shares a passion for some of music’s most energetic eras. A vibrant set of local community groups including Excel Martial Arts, Capella Dance Academy, and Ever After Princesses will accent the stage throughout the day.
Keeping the young ones entertained, the Festival’s ever-popular kids zone returns with hands-on activities and crafts, as well as inflatable bouncy castle and high energy basketball toss fun sponsored by Sticky’s Candy Garrison, Emil Anderson Construction, and Fresh Slice Pizza. A short walk from the main festivities, families can pack their swimsuits and cool down with the Cheam Centre’s Toonie swim; before the main event from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., or after the Festival excitement from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
In return for a non-perishable food or cash donation dropped off at the tent, colourful face painting will be offered by the Envision Financial team, with proceeds supporting The Full Cupboard program. Designed to raise food, funds, and awareness for the Salvation Army’s Chilliwack Community Food Bank, The Full Cupboard, ensures 100% of donations stay in our city to help those in need.
For those who are able to walk to the Festival, arriving on foot is strongly encouraged and appreciated. For those arriving from across town and beyond, overflow parking is generously provided by the University of the Fraser Valley in Lot 7 of Chilliwack’s Canada Education Park.
